Skills you need

You do not need specific skills to be a Community Payback supervisor, placement coordinator or operations manager. However, there are some important skills and experience to have.

Community payback supervisor

Essential skills and experience

You’ll get all the training you need to help you work effectively and safely with people on probation. However, it’s important you have:

  • great people skills
  • the ability to supervise and guide a group
  • a full UK manual driving licence (standard or D1 license) to drive:
    • our Community Payback minibuses to take equipment to and from project sites
    • your group to and from a central pick-up point

We’d love to hear from you if you have a skill or trade such as painting and decorating or carpentry, for example.

Community payback placement coordinator

Essential skills and experience

We look for someone who has skills in:

  • logistics management
  • stakeholder management
  • negotiation
  • communication
  • occupational health and safety or be willing to complete the necessary training

A good multi-tasker, you’ll have an eye for detail and excellent analytical skills.

Occasionally you’ll need to cover for Community Payback supervisors. You’ll require a full UK manual driving licence (standard or D1) to drive our minibuses to transport equipment and people to project sites when needed.

  • great leadership ability
  • time management
  • negotiation and decision-making skills
