To work as a HM Prison and Probation Service (HMPPS) psychologist, you’ll need:

Qualifications
Qualified psychologist roles
If you’re applying for a position as a qualified psychologist, you need to be (one of the following):
- qualified and registered as a practitioner psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
- in the process of registering and be able to provide proof of registration within 3 months of accepting a provisional offer
Trainee psychologist roles
If you’re applying for a trainee forensic psychologist role, you’ll need:
- a psychology degree conferring Graduate Basis for Chartership (GBC) of the British Psychological Society (BPS), and a BPS accredited MSc in Forensic Psychology
- to have passed your MSc and checked it meets BPS accreditation standards to enter ‘Stage 2’ of your forensic training
